MEET
LOULOU WILLIAMS

Now...

Loulou lives and works in North Norfolk, where her deep love for the countryside blends seamlessly with her passion for coastal living. Inspired by her family, she pours her heart into her artistic endeavors. From her ivy-clad, rose-laden studio nestled at the bottom of her garden, Loulou captures the essence of country-coastal life in each of her paintings. Join her, as she brings the beauty of her surroundings to life through her art.

Then...

Loulou's artistic journey began in childhood, encompassing painting, drawing, and sculpting. She honed her skills at Winchester School of Art, earning a Fine Art Degree, followed by a Master's at Bournemouth University. After engaging in community arts projects and television work, she transitioned into teaching. Now, Loulou has joyfully returned to her first love: painting, and she is back in the studio where she truly belongs.

Art Practice

Coast.

Her coastal portfolio, displays her fascination with shellfish and sea life. Loulou explores colour, shape and physiology with studious energy and joy.

A journey that began as a celebration of coastal creatures has morphed into into a project that not only looks at the creature but is influenced by conservation, historical influences and the stories and experiences had by the men and women who fish the seas all over the world.

This human connection to our underwater world continues to influence her work.

TechniqueLoulou Williams combines a fluid style, pooling ink to explore colour, tone and texture with hand painted, intricate details drawn from various subject matter. Pieces are finished using handcrafted tools made from foraged and found materials along the coastline, hedgerows and fields. In so doing, natural elements of the environment, are infused into the work itself.

Country.

In Loulou's Country Portfolio we are encouraged to embrace the beauty of nature through her unique ink creations. Taking inspiration from the fields and farms here in Norfolk, Loulou shares her relationship with wildlife through her work. Celebrating the movement, colour and personality of familiar animals but taking our eye to the often over looked details. Loulou explores the solitary animal as well as the posture and behaviour of familial groups. Painting moments, capturing thought, feeling and instinct.
